I’m Luke Rindels, an information security researcher and developer interested in fun and difficult problems. I enjoy playing CTF, 3D-printing, video games, and occasionally I go outside.

Google CTF 2020 Write-Up Winner

  • One of 40 write-up authors to receive a cash prize for solution submissions
  • I submitted four write-ups. The winning submission was my solution to Pasteurize, an XSS problem

Kernelcon CTF 2020 Winner

  • First place out of 68 teams
  • I contributed to every category, but mainly focused on the Reverse Engineering and Web sections
  • Won ‘Eternal Kernel’ badge, which gives me free, lifetime access to Kernelcon and other participating cons

  • Second person nationwide to complete all eight tasks in this mobile app exploitation challenge
  • Over 2,000 students across the US participated

Google CTF 2019 Write-Up Winner

  • One of my write-ups for a cryptography challenge was selected by Google to appear in their official CTF archive on Github
  • The Google CTF repository states: missing challenges are not ready to be open-sourced, or contain third-party code, so it’s possible that my write-up might never end up in the repository unfortunately
  • My write-ups for some of the beginner challenges and two of the qualifying challenges are hosted here

  • One of twenty students to complete all eight tasks of this blockchain ransomware-based challenge
  • My write-ups for all eight tasks are available here

CyberCorps: Scholarship For Service (SFS) Recipient

  • Scholarship program funded by NSF grants with the goal of recruiting cybersecurity professionals into government service
